Your questions, our answers

At Point Cook Tutoring, we do more than support learning—we shape future achievers. Guided by our values of Academic Excellence, Advanced Learning Outcomes, Ongoing Support, Mutual Respect, and Continuous Innovation, we provide an environment where students thrive.

Our programs integrate selective-entry level learning from an early stage, ensuring students are academically challenged and well-prepared for advanced opportunities. We build confidence by reinforcing strengths and addressing learning gaps, helping each child realise their full potential.

Students are grouped by ability, allowing them to learn alongside academically compatible peers in a focused, stimulating setting. Through proven teaching methods, we equip students with essential study habits, exam strategies, and the motivation to succeed—consistently achieving results beyond standard school outcomes.

We align closely with the Australian curriculum, especially in the early years—but we go further.

For primary students, we create our own in-house books that follow curriculum standards while introducing advanced concepts to stretch their thinking.

Our programs are typically at least one year ahead of school level, and we follow a Selective Entry Model of Learning from an early stage to ensure students are consistently challenged and prepared for academic excellence.

For most students, one session per week is ideal. However, if your child is falling behind at school, two to three sessions weekly are recommended to help them catch up and gain confidence. Once they reach the expected level, they can return to a once-a-week schedule.

As students progress to VCE levels, sessions typically increase to twice a week. This ensures they receive high-quality support for more challenging topics and concepts, setting them up for academic success in their senior years.

Point Cook Tutoring offers flexible after-school, evening, and weekend sessions. If scheduling is a challenge, we’ll work with you to create a timetable that suits your family's needs.

This is a common early observation. Our program begins with foundational skills and gradually increases in complexity. As the term progresses, the Maths content becomes more challenging, with regular assessments and access to advanced practice through our online portal.

At Point Cook Tutoring, we emphasise understanding concepts and building logical thinking in Maths—not just solving questions. A common mistake at early ages is rushing through answers without truly grasping the reasoning behind them.

We also follow a balanced Selective Entry model that gives equal importance to English. From the start, we focus on Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Writing, and Verbal Reasoning to ensure well-rounded academic development.

All tutors need to pass a three-stage review process. This involves a review form based on our rigorous criteria, a phone discussion and finally a successful face-to-face discussion. All tutors have current Working with Children Checks.

Tutors are registered with us based on their academic background, skill level and experience, personality, manner, motivation and reliability.
